Flanking

Flanking is essentially a legal way to fight with pack members.  When El Viejo originally founded the pack, the group had issues setting their pecking order.  To control this, El Viejo set boundaries rather than outright ban dominance fights.

Flanking has little limitations.  It even, until recently, was "legal" to kill your opponent.  This has since stopped after all of the recent hardships and the pack not being able to afford more loss. You now must stop if the leader intervenes, if an injury to the throat has been sustained, or if your opponent falls limp/unconscious.

The main rule about flanking is that if a dog states they give or is demonstrating submissive body language, one most stop immediately.

A secondary rule is that the flank must happen in a designated area, otherwise it is considered an attack on your packmate and you will face El Acabado (judgement by the leader that determines discipline).  The flanking area is (??? Still figuring out map locations my bad)

The third and last rule is that one cannot turn down a flank.  They MUST meet their opponent in the ring by dusk of that day.  HOWEVER, it is completely viable to just immediately give in and back down.  This is considered cowardly and highly submissive.  (OOC note:  You MUST ask out of character before having your character challenge someone.

Although it's not directly stated, there is an unspoken rule that you should only flank those that are of similar stature.  It's not exactly... ethical... for a pitbull to challenge a chihuahua to a flank, even if the chihuahua has the option to immediately back out.  This is seen by the pack as needless humiliation of other pack members.  For large dogs, the minimum size a flank opponent should be is a labrador.  For small breeds, the maximum size would be around the size of a spaniel or schnauzer.

DETERMINING A WINNER (Out of Character notes)

So you're interested in being edgy and having your character flank. But you're sitting here wondering.. wait, how do we "win" ?

Well, you have three options.

1.  Determine a winner beforehand with the other opponent OOC.  However the flank goes, there is no confusion about the winner.

2.  Go on with the flank and just see where you're at halfway through and just decide then with the other person.  Only issue with this is if you two disagree who should win in the middle of the flank.  Then you're sitting there bickering OOC while your characters fight!  (If this happens a third party/a staff member will serve as a referee)

3.  Use our designated flanking area on the discord to post a vote before the flank ever happens.  Other people can vote on who they think should win the flank by reacting to your message.  There is examples and a full explanation for this in the voting channel but it is more or less just like a WWE announcement except people can vote who they think would realistically win. There is the issue of potential user bias, but it is the only other option if you can't determine a winner.
