Down Highway 550

a stray roleplay set in the mountains of New Mexico.

Welcome to the informational center for Down Highway 550; a roleplay detailing the lives of dog gangs set among the Blackstone Mountains, based on the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico.  Dogs seek new beginnings after hearing legends of the great and ancient Los Sabuesos gang, who patrol the mountain highway each day in search of those seeking higher purpose and an escape from the grasp of man.

Please see the About/Joining page first.  It has a discord link and explains all basic elements of the RP.  Please note that we are realistic, literacy-preferring, and currently discord-based.

The Story So Far

You may know about the tale of the pack creation now, but what about recent happenings?  Although not a required read, this details past plots for those curious and wanting full contexts.  Otherwise, have your character ask around to gain information about recent hardships.

Traditions, Ranks

Traditions, ceremonies, and ranks of the pack are described here, from the birth of pups, to the rite of passage, to the equivalent of a funeral.  Smaller and more simple traditions that the pack tends to perform are also mentioned here.

Character Creation

Not sure how to get started with your character?  Confused on realism rules, or what upbringings and backstories are "okay" ? This area goes in depth, tells you how to register new characters, and even provides story ark ideas.

Rulebook

Please view our rules before participating in the RP.

Pack Law

Pack law and code is important to the pack.  It was originally made by El Viejo, with minor add ons along the way and throughout the years, but we've stuck to his word for longer than any can remember.  Pack law is what keeps us keeping on.

Locations/Land

Blackstone Mountains, as named by Los Sabuesos.  The Jemez Mountains, to dwellers and humans.  Following the highway will bring you, over time, to red canyons.  A little further, as the East Fork River carries on, you'll find lush peaks and grasslands.  Learn more under our locations and land information center.

Flanking

An important part of pack life; it is the act of fighting to prove dominance or settle disputes.  Some dogs go their whole life without flanking, while others center their lives around being dominant, becoming officers, enforcers of pack law... whatever the cost.
